Pressing Crime, This Country Bans Riding Motorcycles

The Philippines is fighting crimes committed by using motorbikes. There, many of them committed crimes by riding motorbikes.

To overcome this, the Chief Legal Advisor to the President of the Philippines, Salvador Panelo, suggested that there should be a ban on riding motorbikes.

"I have been telling you for a long time. It's simple. If you don't want criminals to ride on a pillion," Panelo was quoted as saying by Motopinas.

Panelo added that certain sacrifices must be made, especially for the way of life of the motorcyclist community. This is to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime riding motorbikes are eradicated.

"If we don't ban riding motorbikes, there will always be shootings, because they can always pretend to be husband and wife, father and son," added Panelo in Filipino.

The National Police of the Philippines (PNP) has recently launched a new tactical unit, the Tactical Motorcyclist Unit (TMRU). This unit was formed with the main task of fighting the threat of criminals who ride motorbikes together. They are equipped with their own motorbikes to catch the criminals.

In October last year, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte asked the police to form a special elite unit to equalize against criminals riding motorbikes.

Similar to Indonesia, motorbikes in the Philippines are an important part of people's daily lives. In view of all the functional and practical uses that motorbikes offer, there is no denying that there is criminal activity on motorbikes.

Philippine lawmakers and politicians have been in discussions to curb motorbike-related crimes, particularly shootings carried out by perpetrators on motorbikes.
